Leaders in Energy

Our team has the experience to tackle clients' challenges across all sectors of the industry, including renewable energy, energy transition, oil and gas, international energy and natural resources, and electricity and power.

Renewable Energy

Clients across the renewable energy industry – including solar, wind, alternative fuels, storage, hydroelectric and geothermal – rely on Holland & Knight's Renewable Energy Team to assist in the development, acquisition, financing and operation of their projects. Around the U.S. and the globe, we provide critical regulatory advice and advocacy to project developers, public utilities, investment and infrastructure funds, component manufacturers, equipment suppliers, tax and private equity investors, financial institutions, public power authorities, project off-takers and industry advocacy groups.

Energy Transition

We advise clients who are developing potentially game-changing renewable, carbon capture and biofuel transactions. Our team helps them obtain U.S. government funding, advocate for legislation and structure "first-of-a-kind" transactions that fuse conventional and renewable energy concepts. We also assist in obtaining financing, as well as developing and implementing structures that protect clients as they navigate the evolving energy space.

Oil and Gas

For more than 120 years, our attorneys have counseled clients across the entire value chain – those who explore for, develop, produce, finance, store, market, transport and process oil and gas resources. Our clients include multinational and independent oil and gas companies, host government oil and gas companies, private equity and commercial lenders, service companies, refineries and petrochemical companies, as well as multinational drilling contractors and construction companies. Many of the attorneys in our Oil and Gas Practice know the industry firsthand, having served as in-house counsel, auditors, landmen and bankers.

International Energy and Natural Resources

Holland & Knight's International Energy Practice provides legal and business advice in more than 80 countries on six continents, representing multinational and independent oil and gas companies, state-owned energy companies and sovereign governments, renewable energy companies and many others. We negotiate commercial agreements and the full spectrum of energy transactions, as well as resolve complex disputes before international arbitration panels. Other matters that our team handles include drilling and service agreements, global expansion, complex acquisitions, large infrastructure projects, host government granting instruments, natural gas and liquefied natural gas (LNG) sales, unitizations, treaty arbitrations, U.S. sanctions, and global energy and project finance.

Electricity and Power

Backed by a former member of Congress and lawyers who worked for key government regulators, Holland & Knight's Electricity and Power Team helps energy clients fulfill their business goals. We have represented energy clients before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and other agencies that can have a major impact on energy business plans. Our attorneys also have litigated and arbitrated disputes and enforcement matters on a wide range of issues, including approvals for nuclear generating stations, fossil power plants and portfolios of renewable generation assets. We are also experienced in ratemaking proceedings, offshore wind energy project development, commercial contracting, and siting and selection of transmission to support offshore wind.
