Emerging Pollutants in the Water Supply

This program is a recording of a webinar originally presented on October 21, 2009.

This webinar will explore the technical and legal issues surrounding the presence and detection of various pollutants at low levels in public water supplies. These microconstituents include disinfection by-products, pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PCPs), and endocrine disrupting compounds (EDCs) used by people and animals. Some microconstituents enter the public waste stream and are routed to sanitary waste treatment facilities. These facilities often do not effectively remove the pollutants, which accumulate in the environment and find their way into public water systems.
