James E. McDermott serves as the Section Leader for the firm's Business Section. He concentrates his practice in tax and business transactions with an emphasis on the equity financing of affordable housing projects eligible for the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit, and projects of all types eligible for the Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credit. He has represented numerous investors, developers, and syndicators for 27 years in these matters and has personally worked on over 1,100 Low-Income Housing Tax Credit transactions since 1986. Mr. McDermott also has worked on more than 100 HOPE VI/Mixed Finance transactions throughout the country. He is a frequent speaker at industry and legal conferences on the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit.
