Holland & Knight Wins $3.2 Million Verdict for Quantum Capital
MIAMI (April 13, 2016) – Holland & Knight won a $3.25 million jury verdict on behalf of client and plaintiff Quantum Capital against Banco de los Trabajadores de Guatemala (BANTRAB) on April 8 in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
The case was handled and tried by Holland & Knight partners Alex Gonzalez and Israel Encinosa, and associate Michael Rothenberg. They were assisted by paralegal Delia Hayes.
"This was a great result and a complete victory for our client, Quantum Capital," said Mr. Gonzalez. "We are very happy the jury agreed with our position and awarded Quantum the damages it sought to the last cent. It was a total team effort."
The eight-person jury returned its verdict after a five-day trial and two hours of deliberations. The case involves claims for breach of oral and written contracts against BANTRAB stemming from financial advisory services rendered by Quantum. Quantum asserted its claims after BANTRAB refused to pay Quantum its success fees stemming from the closing of two transactions totaling $170 million, which BANTRAB used to expand its operation and growth.
