American Bar Association (ABA) 2023 Midyear Tax Meeting

Tax attorneys Denise Mudigere, Daniel Strickland and Amish Shah will participate in the American Bar Association's (ABA) 2023 Midyear Tax Meeting in San Diego, California. The attorneys will speak on panels covering topics such as valuation specialists in Internal Revenue Service (IRS) exams and appeals as well as U.S.C. Section 6751(b), which relates to the IRS' process for assessing tax penalties.

Ms. Mudigere's session will take place on the second day of the event. Panelists will provide an overview of the role of valuation and similar specialists at the administrative stage of a case.

Mr. Strickland will moderate a discussion looking at the history of Section 6751(b), federal appellate court decisions in Laidlaw's Harley Davidson Sales, Inc. v. Commissioner and Kroner v. Commissioner, strategies for substantiating and litigating supervisory approval, and potential future cases and legislation.

Mr. Strickland and Mr. Shah will also participate in a discussion offering updates related to the Inflation Reduction Act.
