Juneteenth: A Story of Freedom and Opportunity

Holland & Knight's Black Affinity Group invites you to join us for a webinar with the Juneteenth Legacy Project in celebration of Juneteenth.

On June 19, 1865, the message of freedom arrived to Galveston Island and eventually spread throughout the state of Texas to more than 250,000 enslaved people. The ensuing celebrations evolved into the tradition known as Juneteenth.

Our guest speaker, Juneteenth Legacy Project Co-Chair Sam Collins III, will discuss several facets of Juneteenth, including the many ways in which the newfound freedom came with opportunity. Mr. Collins will also share the inspiring stories of individuals and communities that were built on the foundation of a resilient population that never gave up on the hope of freedom.
