Tax attorneys William Sherman and Joshua Odintz will participate in the 82nd Institute on Federal Taxation hosted by the New York University (NYU) School of Professional Studies. The event provides high-level updates regarding federal tax matters, featuring discussions with leading industry professionals.
Mr. Sherman will chair and speak during the International Tax portion of the conference. His presentation will explore U.S. tax considerations related to international merger and acquisition (M&A) transactions. Topics will include taxable and tax-free stock acquisitions of foreign companies, planning for the use of holding companies, debt equity regulations and recent developments from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development's (OECD) base erosion and profit shifting (BEPS) plan.
Mr. Odintz will also speak during the International Tax section on the U.S. Department of the Treasury's rules for determining the creditability of foreign taxes. Under modified rules from the Treasury Department, taxes that could once be credited may no longer be eligible. Mr. Odintz will explain the new rules and how they affect foreign tax credit planning.
