New CERCLA PFAS Designations: Strategies for Managing Risks and Moving Deals Forward

Environmental attorney Meaghan Colligan participated in a virtual panel sponsored by Holland & Knight and hosted by ERIS Webinars, which focused on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) final rule regarding per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). The discussion covered strategies to assist property transactions and redevelopment projects in navigating the new regulations that classify PFAS as hazardous substances under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERLCA). The panelists also addressed liability issues for property owners, the impact on environmental due diligence, risk management considerations and the use of PFAS data in decision-making processes.
