Evolution of the Mining-Environmental Regime In the last 25 years, In Reference to the Mining Law Congress at Externado University
Mining attorney Estefanny Pardo presented the radio program in partnership with La Voz Minera EMG titled “Minería al Día con Estefanny Pardo.” In this episode, Ms. Pardo shared her reflections on the Mining and Energy Law Congress held at the Externado University in Bogotá, highlighting three key points: the evolution of environmental impact in the mining sector, the growing importance of communities in mining projects and the challenges of energy transition in Colombia. She emphasized how environmental licenses have evolved from brief documents to extensive detailed reports, the issues of community blockades in projects like Cerrejón, and the need to educate about Colombia's energy matrix, which is already mostly clean. Ms. Pardo concluded by highlighting the importance of simplifying and reevaluating the country's objectives in energy and mining matters.
