IRS Announces a Six-Month Extension for Certain FATCA Deadlines

On July 12, 2013, the IRS released an advance copy of Notice 2013-43, which revises timelines for compliance with Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (“FATCA”) tax withholding requirements, new account opening procedures, due diligence transition rules on pre-existing obligations, reporting rules for U.S. accounts, and registration deadlines.
