Hydrogen Boom! Electrolyzer Boom?
Energy attorney Jonathan Sánchez wrote a column for a Lexir article on the importance of hydrogen in energy transition and how electrolyzers can be an obstacle to its development. The article describes electrolyzers as electrochemical devices whose manufacturing depends on strategic minerals such as nickel, platinum and iridium, pointing out the need to consider the hydrogen production chain at a macro level, suggesting that Colombia could be key in this sector. Mr. Sánchez highlights the lack of clarity in the hydrogen roadmap in Colombia and the importance of addressing mining exploitation and the lack of electrolyzer manufacturers in the country.
