Fly Me to the Moon...and Mars
Israel Practice Co-Leader Meital Stavinsky published a column in The Times of Israel examining the commercialization of spaceflight and the global implications for national security and defense. She reviews actions taken by the Trump Administration, both in 2019 with the creation of the U.S. Space Force and currently with the nomination of Jared Isaacman to lead NASA, that indicate a focus on the space domain. She also talks about the influx of interest from private companies in the industry, using the term NewSpace to describe private sector involvement and efforts to make space exploration more affordable and accessible. Her piece concludes by noting Israeli tech companies are well positioned to make inroads in this field through developments in artificial intelligence (AI), satellite communications and other innovative technology.
