Real Estate Cases To Watch In 2015

As the new year begins, real estate attorneys will be monitoring a number of cases and trends in the industry. Attorney Paul Kiernan will be watching Supreme Court arguments over whether the Fair Housing Act allows landlords and property owners to be sued over practices that have a disparate impact even when there is no evidence of racial bias.
"Its impact on...the entire world of multifamily and low-income housing — and ultimately probably other real estate — is going to be huge," said Mr. Kiernan. "We do a lot of work for multifamily housing and other housing providers, so that's something everybody is watching nervously."
