Florida is open for captive business
Senior Policy Advisor Beth Vecchioli and Attorney Nathan Adams say Florida has returned to licensing captive insurance companies. In August, the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation issued the first license issued to a domestic captive insurer since 1988.
Mr. Adams said Florida's openness to license captives once again would benefit local companies and stimulate business tourism. Ms. Vecchioli said captives are especially attractive in Florida due to its "relatively high" property insurance rates.
