Microsoft Sues North Korea-Linked Hackers for Impersonation
In an email to Bloomberg Law, Class Action Litigation Attorney Cynthia Burnside commented on Microsoft's lawsuit with Thallium, a group of North Korea-linked hackers who are accused of impersonating the company. Ms. Burnside discusses the difficulty of holding North Korea-based defendants accountable for the alleged attacks in U.S. courts.
"The biggest challenges will be securing proper service over the defendants, and then enforcement of any judgment," Ms. Burnside said. "Those challenges are daunting because hackers tend to travel under pseudonyms, and don’t usually form legal entities or file articles of incorporation with government agencies."
