Analysts: Biden Likely to Bring Conciliatory, Less Aggressive Trade Approach
International Trade Partner Francisco Sánchez was cited in an Inside U.S. Trade article analyzing how a Biden Administration will approach U.S. trade policy. Mr. Sánchez commented on areas including the United States' relationship with the World Trade Organization (WTO), saying he expects the administration to support the WTO while also calling for reform. Overall, he said, a Biden Administration will focus on how trade policy affects U.S. manufacturing and job creation.
"I do believe that despite other issues, trade is something President Biden will have to confront and will have to deal with," Mr. Sánchez said. "Biden's rhetoric seems to be focused on having a much tighter nexus between trade successes and...how it impacts...workers, where Trump largely measures success in reducing trade deficit."
