Tax Revenues Will Have Greater Weight in Public Finances
Tax attorney Mario Barrera was cited in a Reforma article explaining that next year, tax revenues will carry more weight in public finances because of a decline in the collection of income from petroleum resources. Mr. Barrera explained how the government aims to enhance tax enforcement measures in order to achieve its projected tax revenue goals.
"In the absence of tax law reforms, it is noted that there is no effort to expand the taxpayer base; therefore, the burden of taxation will continue to rest on formal entities, businesses and workers, with less focus on bringing informal sectors into formal compliance," he said.
