Hoover Files Letter of Intent for Ambulatory Surgery, Medical Diagnostics Center

Healthcare attorney Colin Luke was quoted in a Hoover Sun article about a new ambulatory surgery center and diagnostics center that is planned for the city of Hoover, Alabama. The Hoover Health Care Authority recently filed a letter of intent with the State Health Planning and Development Agency's Certificate of Need Review Board proposing the development of the facility in an empty office building in Riverchase Corporate Park. Mr. Luke explained why this location is an ideal one.

"If you had to design it from scratch, this would be the perfect location for a healthcare campus with a focus on wellness," he said.

He added that part of the research process entailed learning what healthcare services were needed in the area and how far people had to travel for appointments, both of which make Hoover a good fit for the new facility.

"This community which is growing, really needs healthcare here, as opposed to downtown [Birmingham] or on the other side of town or even in the [U.S.] 280 corridor. It’s hard to get from the Riverchase corridor to the 280 corridor," he said. "If you've got healthcare appointments in the middle of the day and you need proximity to schools and you need proximity to home, it just works to have these facilities based in the neighborhood."
