2024 Ones to Watch Industry Leaders: Stuart Saft, Holland & Knight LLP

Real Estate attorney Stuart Saft was profiled by the New York Real Estate Journal as part of its "Ones to Watch Industry Leaders" series recognizing top local practitioners. Mr. Saft, who leads the firm's New York Real Estate Practice Group and co-chairs its global Condominium Development and Conversion Team, commented on his accomplishments and challenges throughout the past year. From assisting a developer formulating and documenting alternatives to the expired 421-a program to counseling clients on the "paucity of financing options" available post-pandemic, Mr. Saft's work stood out from the crowd. He also advised emerging leaders to "never assume that you know everything" and named Carlo D'Este's biography of Dwight David Eisenhower as a must-read.

"With many lenders now dealing with troubled loans, I was able to utilize the lessons learned during the Great Recession, when I served as board chair of National Cooperative Bank (NCB)," Mr. Saft said. "...During the past 12 months I have worked on the conversion of 1.5 million [square feet] of office space throughout Manhattan to other uses."
