How Much Will an Hour of Work Cost, If You Earn a Minimum Wage, with the Work Week Reduction

Labor attorney Diego Acevedo was cited in an article published by El País where he explained how the work week reduction in Colombia will affect workers' salaries. Under Law 2101 of 2021, the work week will gradually be reduced to 42 hours, beginning this July 15. However, this reduction will not lead to a reduction in salary for workers, but rather that the value of an hour of work will increase. Mr. Acevedo clarified that neither will the value of benefits be reduced, because the law decreases payroll costs and conflicts resulting from modifications in working conditions.
