Colorado AG Weiser Anticipates Trump Enforcers to Continue Cases, Vows Independent Action If Necessary
Consumer protection attorney Anthony DiResta shared his insights in a Capitol Forum article on the interaction between state attorneys general (AGs) and federal antitrust enforcement authorities under the incoming Trump Administration. Colorado AG Phil Weiser recently shared that he expects cases initiated under the first Trump Administration will continue to ensure continuity and stability in regulatory enforcement. Mr. DiResta highlighted state AGs' readiness to take action independent of the federal government to uphold antitrust and consumer protection laws, adding that they can use so-called "Little FTC Acts" to aid enforcement efforts.
"State agencies are going to be very energized by what is going on at the federal level," he said. "On the state level we can expect an increase in the volume and intensity of investigations."
