Trump's Picks for CFPB, OCC Chiefs Hailed by Industry

Financial Services attorney Eamonn Moran spoke to Law360 about President Donald Trump's nominations for key financial regulatory positions, including Jonathan McKernan as head of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). Mr. Moran described McKernan as a "steady hand" with a reputation for bipartisanship, exemplified in his former role with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC).

"I am very confident that Mr. McKernan can work collaboratively to foster commonsense solutions and am optimistic that he can stabilize and bring some normalcy to the agency," he said. "I think many agree that the CFPB should be reformed, but in the absence of congressional intervention, new leadership should take a balanced approach to consumer protection regulation, supervision and enforcement."
