Virtual Round Table – Fraud & White Collar Crime 2025

CorporateLiveWire

Data Strategy, Security & Privacy attorney Thomas Bentz was featured in CorporateLiveWire's virtual roundtable discussing the latest regulatory changes, significant developments and notable case studies concerning fraud and white collar crime globally. The panel of professionals answered questions on how different jurisdictions are addressing organized crime, tackling ransomware and enhancing interagency collaboration to combat criminal activities. Mr. Bentz's comments covered best practices for conducting internal investigations and managing fraud risk, including recommendations for effective education and employee training to counteract emerging threats.

"Since human error is typically the most vulnerable point of a company's data protection strategy, regular training and testing of employees can be a very effective way to limit a company's exposure. Requiring dual factor authentication for all logins and wire transfers is another way to limit exposure," he said. "Beyond these things, making sure that the company has strong insurance protection with adequate limits, maintains a well vetted and reviewed incident response policy, and requires key players to participate in regular tabletop exercises to test their insurance and incident response plans, can also be very helpful."
