Technology policy attorney Paul Stimers was quoted in a Politico article discussing the ambitious American Science Acceleration Project (ASAP), an initiative aimed at significantly speeding up U.S. scientific research by 2030 through artificial intelligence (AI)-driven innovations. Led by Sen. Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) and Mike Rounds (R-S.D.), ASAP seeks to tackle complex challenges such as nuclear fusion and superconductors and has support from industry leaders including Google, Microsoft and OpenAI. Mr. Stimers highlighted the project's promising outlook in the legislative arena.
"I would expect ASAP to receive careful consideration in Congress this year," he said.
