Kevin Packman Receives Distinguished Alumni Award From Washington University School of Law

MIAMI – April 18, 2011 – Holland & Knight Partner Kevin Packman received the Distinguished Young Law Alumni Award from Washington University School of Law during an April 15 ceremony in St. Louis, Missouri.

The Distinguished Young Law Alumni Awards honor alumni who graduated within the past 25 years. The recipients exemplify achievement and commitment to the ideals embodied in a legal education. Kevin received his J.D. from the University in 1998, where he also received its Honor Scholar award.

Kevin is Chair of Holland & Knight's Offshore Compliance Team and a member of its Private Wealth Services Group. His practice includes tax controversies, estate planning (domestic and international), and creditor protection planning.

He frequently travels throughout the United States lecturing for institutions such as STEP, the ABA, AICPA, New York University, and the University of Miami. He is also a prolific writer with articles appearing in publications including the Florida Bar Journal, Journal of Accountancy, Journal of Taxation, Estate Planning, Practical Tax Strategies and The Jerusalem Post.

Kevin is very active in the community as well. He is the founder and current Chairman/CEO of the ALS Recovery Fund, a 501(c)(3) grassroots organization that raises money for ALS research and patients. Additionally, Kevin drafted legislation that passed Congress declaring May as “National ALS Awareness Month.”

Kevin is also the South Florida Coordinator for a national pro bono project helping Holocaust survivors obtain pensions from the German government for services rendered during WWII. To date, Kevin and a group of volunteers have assisted approximately 500 survivors for free.
