Holland & Knight Advises Buenavista Renewables in Power Purchase Agreement with Zodiac Aerospace
MEXICO CITY (May 21, 2019) – Holland & Knight represented Buenavista Renewables México, S. de R.L. de C.V. (BVR), a subsidiary of Texas-based energy developer Buenavista Renewables, and ESCO Comercializadora Energética S. de R.L. de C.V., a qualified supplier from Mexicali, Baja California., in a long-term power purchase agreement with Zodiac Aerospace Equipo de México S. de R.L. de C.V., an affiliate of France's Safran Group. The tripartite agreement was announced on May 20.
The electricity to be delivered under the agreement will be generated by roughly 13 MW of the Los Santos Solar II solar facility, which BVR is developing in Ahumada, Chihuahua. The facility is located contiguous to BVR's operational Los Santos Solar I project.
Under the agreement, Zodiac Aerospace, as off-taker, will be supplied 100 percent of its electricity, Clean Energy Certificates, and capacity from ESCO, as qualified supplier under the new Mexican market rules. Approximately 70 percent of these products will come from the Los Santos II facility. In total, Zodiac Aerospace has committed to purchase more than 30,000 MWh of electricity annually from the facility for use in its Chihuahua factories.
BVR and ESCO will announce the Los Santos Solar II project's other off-takers in the coming weeks.
The representation of BVR was led by Mexico City Partners Alejandro Landa and Carlos Ochoa and Associates Alberto Esenaro and Aldo González.
