Karen Walker Appointed Leader of Holland & Knight’s Government Section
MIAMI (March 2, 2020) – Holland & Knight Managing Partner Steven Sonberg has named Karen Walker the new leader of the firm’s Government Section, one of four sections through which the firm delivers its services to clients.
Ms. Walker is a partner in Holland & Knight’s Tallahassee office, where she was the executive partner prior to her appointment to section leader. She also provides law-related services in her new leadership role in the firm’s Washington, D.C., office.
For more than two decades, Ms. Walker’s practice has focused on assisting clients who do business with, or are regulated by, state and local government entities. She represents clients in all aspects of state and local government procurement, including analyzing potential contracting opportunities, assisting clients in responding to competitive negotiations, bid protests, contract implementation and performance issues, contract disputes and compliance matters. Ms. Walker has held numerous leadership positions at Holland & Knight, including serving as the liaison for the executive partners of all of firm’s offices to senior management and two terms on the firm’s Directors Committee.
“Karen has made significant contributions to the firm over her career,” Mr. Sonberg said. “She was one of the youngest partners ever elected to serve on the firm’s Directors Committee and has done an excellent job leading our Tallahassee office. I am confident she will bring those same leaderships skills to our Government Section.”
Ms. Walker succeeds David Whitestone, who was recently appointed executive partner of the firm’s Washington, D.C., office.
Holland & Knight’s Government Section has more than 100 lawyers and professionals engaged in federal, state, local and tribal government affairs, regulatory counseling and related disciplines. The firm’s other sections are Business, Litigation and Real Estate.
