Shannon B. Hartsfield Named New Leader of Holland & Knight in Tallahassee
Tallahassee, Fla. (February 28, 2020) – Holland & Knight managing partner Steven Sonberg has appointed Shannon B. Hartsfield to serve as executive partner of the firm's Tallahassee office. Ms. Hartsfield will oversee the day-to-day management of the 21-lawyer office, while continuing her thriving healthcare practice. She replaces Karen Walker, who served as executive partner in Tallahassee for 12 years. Ms. Walker has been appointed to head the firm’s Government Section.
“Shannon has a great reputation throughout the firm for her intellect, incredible work ethic and the immense value she brings to clients,” Mr. Sonberg said. “We are very pleased that she will be focusing her talents on leading our Tallahassee office.”
Ms. Hartsfield, who started in the office as a summer associate in 1994 while in law school, said, “It is an honor to serve such a great office in this role and support colleagues who work very hard to help clients deal with Florida government in the capital city.”
Ms. Hartsfield, who is Board Certified in Health Law by The Florida Bar Board of Legal Specialization and Education, focuses her practice on healthcare compliance, particularly in the regulatory and data privacy areas. Additionally, Chambers USA – America's Leading Business Lawyers guide has recognized Ms. Hartsfield as a leading healthcare lawyer since 2006.
Ms. Hartsfield recently co-authored “HIPAA: A Practical Guide to the Privacy and Security of Health Data, Second Edition,” published by the American Bar Association (ABA). She is past chair of the ABA Health Law Section's eHealth, Privacy & Security Interest Group.
