Holland & Knight Partner Leonard Gilbert Appointed to American Bar Association Governance Committees

TAMPA, Fla. (August 15, 2024) – Holland & Knight Partner Leonard Gilbert has been appointed to the American Bar Association (ABA) House of Delegates Select Committee for a one-year term and the Standing Committee on Constitution and Bylaws for a three-year term. Both terms began at the close of the ABA's annual meeting in early August.

Mr. Gilbert has a long history of service with the ABA that includes serving as a member of the Board of Governors, member of the House of Delegates since 2008, director of the American Bar Foundation, chair of the General Practice Section, member of the of Business Law Section's Council and member of the Standing Committee on the Federal Judiciary.

The House of Delegates Select Committee consists of 15 delegates and reviews the overall functioning of the House with respect to the role of the individual delegates (including reviewing conflict of interest or other allegations against a delegate), in addition to the effective use of the House's time through an ongoing review of House customs and procedures.

The Standing Committee on Constitution and Bylaws consists of seven members who are tasked with studying and making appropriate recommendations on proposals to amend the constitution or the bylaws and proposals to amend the rules of procedure of the House.

Mr. Gilbert is a graduate of Harvard Law School and a member of Holland & Knight's Financial Services Practice Group. He has represented numerous state, national and international banks and other financial institutions, as well as public bodies and secured and unsecured creditors' committees. He has had significant involvement in high-profile and complex cases receiving international attention. Mr. Gilbert has been consistently recognized as a top banking, bankruptcy and creditors' rights lawyer by The Best Lawyers in America and is AV rated by Martindale Hubbell.

Mr. Gilbert is a former president of The Florida Bar, Hillsborough County Bar and American College of Commercial Finance Lawyers.
