Overview

Brant Biddle is a litigation attorney in Holland & Knight's Birmingham office. Mr. Biddle focuses his practice on complex litigation and other commercial disputes.

Mr. Biddle represents clients in a variety of litigation and commercial disputes in the financial services, healthcare, real estate and other industries. His experience encompasses disputes involving commercial breach of contract, business torts, insurance coverage, wrongful repossession and personal injury. In addition to his litigation practice, Mr. Biddle assists residential real estate owners and developers in the review and preparation of construction contracts by advising on potential risks and exposures under Alabama construction law.

Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Mr. Biddle gained valuable experience as a clerk for the Honorable L. Scott Coogler of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama.

Representative Experience

  • Representing a manufacturing start-up company in extremely high-stakes civil action alleging that defendant manufacturers committed breach of contract and fraud relating to an agreement to supply specialized manufacturing equipment and seeking recovery of damages well in excess of $50 million
  • Acted as first-chair in bench trial involving common law claims arising from alleged wrongful recovery of a vehicle, successfully obtaining a favorable settlement prior to a verdict following introduction of evidence implicating plaintiff in fraud
  • Representing a title pawn company in defending against demand for release of vehicle lien allegedly obtained through fraud
  • Representing a title pawn company in arbitration of claims involving severe personal injury that occurred during an attempted recovery of vehicle from claimant who defaulted on a title pawn agreement

  • Represented a financial institution that had acted as successor trustee and was being sued for breach of trust based on depletion of the trusts' assets during the tenure of predecessor trustees; successfully obtained summary judgment in the successor trustee's favor

  • Assisted in advising a clothing manufacturer regarding insurance policy coverage for damages resulting from cybercrime

  • Advised property owners and lenders regarding Alabama's laws and regulations requiring licensure of general contractors and the potential legal consequences of hiring unlicensed builders to carry out work involving development of residential subdivisions
