Overview
Jeannette M. Bond is a financial services attorney in Holland & Knight's New York office. For more than 40 years, Ms. Bond has practiced in the public finance area, concentrating on the federal tax aspects of tax-exempt bonds.
Ms. Bond has served as special tax counsel for bonds of state and local governments and authorities, including advance refunding issues of the state of New Jersey. She has extensive experience advising on numerous IRS audits of bond transactions and has helped clients obtain private letter rulings from the IRS. In addition, Ms. Bond assists issuers and conduit borrowers in developing and implementing post-issuance tax compliance procedures relating to their bond issues.
Ms. Bond also has more than 40 years of experience in all aspects of a Section 103 tax practice, including interest rate swaps and termination of swaps; use of proceeds limits for tax-exempt and other tax-advantaged bonds, including credit bonds; and private activity limits.
In addition to her legal practice, Ms. Bond has been an active member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers (NABL) since 1983, having served as a member of its board of directors, as its treasurer and as a member of the initial editorial board responsible for developing its multi-volume looseleaf service, Federal Taxation of Municipal Bonds. She also is a frequent speaker on the tax aspects of public finance issues before various industry and governmental groups.
Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Ms. Bond was an attorney at a national full-service law firm in its New York office.
