Overview

Alan S. Cohen is a New York attorney who practices in the areas of financial services and real estate. Mr. Cohen focuses on all aspects of tax-advantaged real estate investments, where he has more than 30 years of experience.

Mr. Cohen has advised clients on low-income housing tax credits, historic rehabilitation tax credits, sale-leasebacks, new market tax credits and energy tax credits. He has represented national syndicators, multi-national corporations in all business sectors, as well as national, international and investment banks. Recently, his practice has included combining Opportunity Zone investments with other tax-advantaged investments.

In addition, Mr. Cohen assists clients with private equity advice in structuring multi-investor syndications, developing public-private partnerships for urban neighborhood revitalizations, creating tax-advantaged investment programs and overseeing investments for corporate treasury and tax departments.

Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Mr. Cohen worked for a New York law firm where he counseled on real estate finance matters.
