Overview
Frederick L. "Trip" Conrad III is a labor and employment attorney in Holland & Knight's Nashville office.
Mr. Conrad has extensive experience defending employers against allegations of employment discrimination, harassment and retaliation brought before federal and state courts, as well as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and various state agencies. He regularly defends clients against class wide allegations of improper pay practices arising under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and state wage and hour laws. Mr. Conrad also guides companies through the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) investigation process and contests OSHA citations before the OSHA Review Commission.
In addition to employment litigation, Mr. Conrad provides counsel to employers on a wide range of issues, such as OSHA health and safety regulations, employee hiring, training and discipline, severance agreements, and employment policies and handbooks. Mr. Conrad conducts internal investigations and provides counsel to management on maintaining compliance with employment-related statutes and regulations and developing strategies to avoid the potential for litigation in the area of labor and employment law. He also advises corporate attorneys on employment law issues for corporate transactions.
Mr. Conrad’s experience also includes labor relations matters, including participating in numerous collective bargaining negotiations with labor unions across the country and defending employers in administrative hearings before the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) relating to collective bargaining agreements.
Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Mr. Conrad gained valuable experience as a judicial law clerk the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and the U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada. Additionally, he was a labor and employment associate in the Washington, D.C., office of a large multinational law firm.
