Joseph Albert Field III

Joseph "Joe" Field is a private wealth services attorney in Holland & Knight's Washington, D.C., office. Mr. Field focuses his practice on representing international families on structuring their estate planning as well as working with financial institutions on a variety of financial services, including life insurance.

Mr. Field has built an extensive portfolio of work, including counseling families of substantial wealth in the U.S., Europe, the Middle East and Asia, regarding all aspects of estate planning. Additionally, he collaborates with financial institutions to offer a diverse range of services, including establishing international trust companies and other financial services related to his estate planning practice.

Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Mr. Field was counsel at a global law firm in its Washington, D.C., office. He is world renowned in the private client space and has held leadership roles at firms in London and Asia.

In addition, Mr. Field was editor of Private Wealth Management, a directory for the private banking industry. He has authored numerous articles on asset protection, family offices, international estate planning, the use of life insurance for international families, the use of common law trusts in civil environments, European legislation and practice as it may apply to international advisors and some hidden traps when crossing borders to invest or live. Mr. Field also has been a contributor to the International Estate Planning – A Reference Guide.

Over many years, Mr. Field has spoken frequently to such organizations as the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), the Delaware Bankers’ Association, banking clients and several others. He also led a training program for five years on the international use of trusts for a major Canadian multinational financial institution in London and Canada.
