Overview

Gustavo Galindo is a Mexico City litigation attorney who focuses his practice on representing national and international corporations in civil and commercial litigation before federal and local courts in Mexico. Mr. Galindo also has participated in domestic and international arbitrations before the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC).

Mr. Galindo has extensive experience in a variety of litigation areas such as contractual disputes, extra-contractual liability, class actions, infrastructure, business restructurings and bankruptcies, conflicts with shareholders and managers, interim measures, enforcement of guarantees and insurance claims, as well as banking, financial and real estate litigation.

In addition to his formal education, Mr. Galindo earned a certificate in Commercial Oral Proceedings from the Judicial Courts of the State of Zacatecas (Poder Judicial del Estado de Zacatecas).

Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Mr. Galindo was an attorney at a global law firm in its Mexico City office, where he focused his practice on civil and commercial litigation and arbitration.

  • Represented a Brazilian bank as creditor within the bankruptcy proceedings of a Mexican construction and real estate company
  • Represented an international graphite electrodes manufacturer in the bankruptcy proceedings of the largest steel manufacturer in Mexico
  • Represented a gaming, hospitality and restaurant company as main creditor within the bankruptcy proceedings of an entertainment company and its subsidiaries
  • Represented a Japanese automobile company within the global out-of-court restructuring of a Japanese automotive parts manufacturer

  • Successfully represented a Mexican airport as defendant within a class action aimed toward the cancellation of a new airport project for alleged environmental damages
  • Successfully represented a leading auto parts manufacturer in multiple commercial proceedings
  • Successfully represented a medical device manufacturer as defendant in a judicial proceeding filed by a former vendor, avoiding for the client the specific performance of fraudulent agreements executed by the former vendor and a disloyal attorney-in-fact
  • Currently representing one of the biggest tire manufacturers worldwide as commercial litigation outside counsel
  • Represented a U.S. citizen in a trial involving real estate, probate law and trust agreement components, obtaining a favorable sentence that shaped two relevant judicial precedents recorded in the Mexican jurisprudence records
  • Successfully represented a multinational technology company engaged in e-commerce in high-stakes and highly publicized commercial and constitutional proceedings against one of Latin America's largest TV conglomerates, defending its right to import and distribute certain streaming devices

  • Successfully represented a multinational transport infrastructure company in an international arbitration for the enforcement of a shareholder's agreement against its partner, as well as in parallel judicial proceedings that were settled as consequence of the arbitral award that contributed to the collection of an amount in excess of $100 million
  • Successfully represented a global gaming, hospitality and restaurant company in two International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) arbitration proceedings and more than 15 judicial proceedings for the enforcement of several franchise agreements
  • Successfully represented a global renewable energy company in an ICC arbitration, obtaining the payment of damages caused to the turbines of the largest combined cycle plant in Mexico
  • Represented a Mexican renewable energy company as plaintiff in a commercial arbitration against a Swiss trading company for the enforcement of a sale and purchase agreement over clean energy certificates
  • Represented a leading Mexican advertising agency as defendant in an ICC arbitration for the termination of a master agreement for the sale of fixed publicity in several Mexican airports; the matter was concluded with a favorable settlement agreement for the client
