Overview
Danielle A. Giaccio is a multifaceted attorney in Holland & Knight's Houston and Austin offices, and a member of the firm’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice. Ms. Giaccio focuses her practice primarily on complex commercial litigation matters in the state and federal courts of Texas across a variety of industry sectors, including healthcare, financial services, automotive, hospitality, labor and employment, real estate and entertainment. She has handled cases across a broad range of legal issues, with an emphasis on complex commercial disputes and breach of contract.
Additionally, Ms. Giaccio represents and counsels healthcare providers and healthcare industry companies on a national basis over a vast breadth of healthcare regulatory matters, including compliance, telehealth and telemedicine, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), scope of practice, auditing and enforcement, corporate practice of medicine and change of ownership.
Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Ms. Giaccio clerked for a large private health sciences center in Houston, where she gained experience in healthcare risk assessment, including hospital liability management, legal and ethical physician counseling, clinical contract drafting and medical malpractice defensive litigation. Ms. Giaccio further holds extensive administrative and healthcare knowledge through her academic background in public health policy and law, with a particular focus in maternal and child health.
While in law school, Ms. Giaccio served as the chief notes and comments editor for the Houston Journal of Health Law and Policy. She also worked as a teaching assistant for Assistant Dean and Professor Meredith J. Duncan, where she assisted first semester law students with legal writing, legal analysis and tort law. In addition, Ms. Giaccio was heavily involved in the law center's national advocacy program, where she represented the law center in nearly a dozen national mock trial, moot court, alternative dispute resolution and legal writing competitions, earning her multiple title breaks and an induction into the national Order of the Barristers.
Ms. Giaccio continues to remain involved in the law center, having returned as director of the national moot court team and an adjunct professor for appellate advocacy. She is further devoted to service through representation to those underserved in the community through her commitment to the pro bono initiatives of Holland & Knight.
