Overview

Maria Camila Gil is an attorney in Holland & Knight's Houston office and a member of the firm's Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice. Ms. Gil's litigation experience includes drafting pleadings, drafting motions, discovery management and witness preparation. Ms. Gil represents clients in a variety of industry sectors, including financial services, real estate, hospitality, entertainment, healthcare and energy. Ms. Gil has handled cases across a broad range of legal issues, including complex commercial disputes, breach of contract, sovereign immunity, trademark infringement and trade secret litigation.

During law school, Ms. Gil interned with a well-known oilfield services company, where she assisted in corporate governance, regularly communicated with various state departments throughout the U.S. regarding entity conversions, and drafted powers of attorney for employees abroad to represent the company in litigation. In addition, Ms. Gil was a notes and comments editor for the Houston Business and Tax Law Journal.

Representative Experience

  • Member of team that represented a commercial electrical vehicle (EV) developer and manufacturer in obtaining a motion to dismiss on a forum non conveniens challenge regarding a $7.8 billion trade secrets lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas that involved two Israel-based competitors in the EV technology industry
