Overview

Morgan J. Delabar is an attorney at Holland & Knight's Dallas office and a member of the firm's Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice. Ms. Delabar handles a wide variety of legal matters in the financial, employment, hospitality, healthcare and intellectual property spaces, along with regulatory and government investigations in the banking industry.

Commercial Litigation

Ms. Delabar has experience representing companies across a multitude of industries in state and federal court, as well as in alternative dispute resolution forums. These cases have involved breach of contract, fraud, misappropriation, covenants not to compete, patent infringement and property disputes. Her experiences include advocacy at trial and motion hearings, drafting motions, taking and defending depositions, managing large e-discovery projects, facilitating settlement discussions and conducting legal research. She has also played a key role at a number of trials and hearings, including preparing, examining and defending witnesses, and developing trial strategy.

In addition, Ms. Delabar represents clients in fast-paced and high-stakes litigation, including recently defending Subway in a patent infringement case. She has a strong understanding of the procedures involved in a request for injunctive relief in Texas state and federal courts, and regularly represents clients in successfully obtaining or defending against requests for injunctive relief.

Government and Regulation

Ms. Delabar also has substantial experience aiding clients, particularly in the financial services industry, with regulatory compliance and government investigations. Ms. Delabar is versed in reviewing state and federal regulations and counseling clients on the regulatory obligations stemming from those laws. She has also represented institutions and individuals in government investigations by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and Federal Deposit Insurance Commission (FDIC).

Healthcare Representation

Ms. Delabar has additionally served as interim general counsel for a Texas managed care organization (MCO). In this role, she represented the MCO in hearings before the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) and in hundreds of mediations with providers to resolve claims disputes. This experience has aided Ms. Delabar in successfully representing multiple clients in the health insurance industry with ligation matters, both on the plaintiff and defense side.

During law school, Ms. Delabar interned at an advertising agency, where she gained exposure to trademark, copyright and regulatory issues. She also served as a senior executive editor of the Baylor Law Review, was a member of the Veteran's Law Moot Court Team, and served veterans in the Waco, Texas, community through her pro bono legal efforts.
