Overview

Alex Lewis is a tax attorney in Holland & Knight's Portland office. Mr. Lewis focuses his practice on project development and finance in the renewable energy sector.

Mr. Lewis assists clients with federal income tax matters related to investment tax credits (ITC) and production tax credits (PTC) for renewable electricity and clean fuels. He also advises clients on issues related to energy property qualifications, transfer and direct pay of ITCs and PTCs, domestic content requirements, prevailing wage and apprenticeship rules, and energy communities qualifications.

Additionally, Mr. Lewis provides tax advice to corporate investors, private equity and financial institutions, and developers in the structuring, financing, development, acquisition, disposition and operation of projects in the renewable natural gas (RNG), solar, battery, hydrogen, wind and carbon capture industries.

Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Mr. Lewis was an attorney at an international law firm in its Portland office. In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Lewis is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and is licensed in Oregon.

While in law school, Mr. Lewis served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Michael L. Robinson of the North Carolina Special Superior Court for Complex Business Cases. He also served as the deputy director of the Wake Forest Pro Bono Project.
