Glafira Mercado

Glafira Mercado is a real estate attorney in Holland & Knight's Monterrey office, where she focuses her practice on sales, acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures, leases, development and construction. Her practice includes real estate transactions for multifamily and office buildings, retail properties, industrial parks and mixed-use developments.

Ms. Mercado counsels domestic and cross-border parties, owners, developers, investors and tenants on commercial leasing, and purchasers in the acquisition and disposition of properties.

In addition, Ms. Mercado's practice encompasses every aspect of the real estate industry, including real estate due diligence, negotiating and drafting real estate purchase agreements for the acquisition of land or property, negotiating and drafting real estate lease agreements, the design and negotiation of construction agreements for real estate development and property asset management agreements. Ms. Mercado has extensive experience representing owners and investors on structuring real estate investment trusts (REITs). She also has experience with the coordination to obtain building permits and operating licenses with municipal, state and federal governmental authorities, as well as representation and guidance on energy and water feasibility certifications and natural resources.

Ms. Mercado's experience includes representing clients in corporate matters and advising on the structuring of corporate entities, formation documents, joint ventures and day-to-day operations.

In addition, Ms. Mercado has a significant background in private equity investment vehicles that invest in real estate projects in Mexico and the U.S.

Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Ms. Mercado served as in-house counsel for a leading Mexican real estate company that provided services to an affiliated U.S. real estate private equity investment management company.
