Overview
John T. Oliver is a land use attorney in Holland & Knight's Washington, D.C., office. Mr. Oliver focuses his practice on assisting developers, investors, property owners and institutional clients in obtaining zoning approval and land use entitlements in Washington, D.C. He is involved in multiple aspects of real estate development and the municipal approval process, including conducting land use due diligence, proceedings before the Zoning Commission, Board of Zoning Adjustment and Council of the District of Columbia.
Specifically, Mr. Oliver's representation includes processing planned unit developments (PUDs), securing map and text amendments to the D.C. zoning regulations, obtaining variance and special exception relief, and finalizing alley closing and street dedications.
Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Mr. Oliver was a land use and zoning associate with a regional law firm in Phoenix, Arizona. There, he assisted clients in obtaining PUDs, rezoning approval, use permits and variances throughout Maricopa County. During law school, Mr. Oliver served as a managing editor for the Arizona State Law Journal.
