Overview
J. Keith Ramsey is a senior counsel in Holland & Knight's Orlando office and practices in the area of construction litigation. Mr. Ramsey is Board Certified in construction law by the Florida Bar. He is also experienced in commercial and appellate litigation. He has significant experience with engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) projects. He handles complex construction litigation, both at the trial and appellate level, including claims for defects, water intrusion, delay damages, lien foreclosures and default terminations. Such representation includes representing owners, subcontractors, general contractors, homebuilders and design professionals. He also drafts and negotiates contracts for various construction participants and routinely assists clients with contract management strategies in an effort to avoid disputes. He also has significant experience representing clients on bid protests involving public procurements before city, county and state agencies. Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Ramsey served as an appellate law clerk to the Honorable Barry J. Stone of the Fourth District Court of Appeal.
Mr. Ramsey's representations include:
- defense of a contractor from a claim of unlicensed contracting at both trial level and on appeal
- defense of a $15.3 million damages claim against the manufacturer and supplier of a 450 MW steam turbine generator brought by a power generating facility
- pursuit and defense of claims totaling $29.2 million arising from the design and construction of 53.5 MW biomass power generation facility
