Overview

Eric B. Shortz is a real estate attorney in Holland & Knight's Century City office. His practice focuses on all aspects of transactional real estate, including the negotiation and documentation of acquisition, sales, leases, development, construction, bridge, permanent and mezzanine financing, as well as the formation and documentation of joint ventures.

Mr. Shortz's practice also includes the negotiation and documentation of property, asset management, development, construction and brokerage agreements. He is especially active in representing borrowers in complex financings transactions.

Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Mr. Shortz was an attorney for a boutique national real estate law firm in Los Angeles.

  • Represented a private real estate company in connection with the acquisition, financing and subsequent sale of an 82-property industrial portfolio in Northern California
  • Represented a developer in connection with the sale of 26 logistics assets in the Western U.S. for approximately $570 million
  • Represented a sponsor in connection with the acquisition and financing of a portfolio of multifamily properties in Atlanta for approximately $83 million and the venture documentation with a family office equity partner
  • Represented a joint venture in connection with the financing of a portfolio of industrial assets in California and Colorado with an institutional debt-fund lender
  • Represented a developer in connection with the acquisition and financing of a multifamily asset in Boise, Idaho, and subsequent purchase of membership interests and recapitalization of the asset with an institutional equity partner
  • Represented a sponsor in connection with the acquisition and agency loan assumption of a multifamily property in Missoula, Montana, for approximately $28 million and venture documentation with an institutional equity partner
  • Represented a developer in connection with the acquisition and construction loan of a ground-up apartment development in Boise, Idaho, and venture documentation with a publicly traded equity partner
  • Represented a sponsor in connection with the acquisitions and agency financings of five multifamily properties in Nashville, Tennessee, for approximately $150 million
  • Represented a developer in connection with the acquisition, development, construction financing and sale of a mixed-use project in Boise, Idaho
  • Represented a joint venture in connection with an acquisition and loan assumption of a multifamily property in Salt Lake City for approximately $73 million
  • Represented a developer in connection with the acquisition and loan assumption of a multifamily property in Austin, Texas, for approximately $48 million and the joint venture documentation with an institutional equity partner
  • Represented a sponsor in connection with the acquisition and loan assumption of a multifamily property in Salt Lake City for approximately $53 million and the venture documentation with a family office equity partner
  • Represented a sponsor in connection with the structural reorganization of a portfolio of multifamily properties in Austin, Texas, and refinancing with an institutional debt fund for approximately $40 million
  • Represented a joint venture with a tenancy-in-common structure in connection with the acquisition and loan assumption of a multifamily property in Denver
  • Represented a developer in connection with obtaining multiple revolving credit facilities from an institutional lender secured by stabilized and non-stabilized industrial assets
  • Represented a sponsor in connection with the sale of multifamily asset in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and defeasance of the existing financing
