Allison N. Skopec
Associate

Overview
Allison N. Skopec is a New York-based attorney who is engaged in a broad range of international and domestic litigation, regulatory compliance and transactional matters in the areas of transportation, intellectual property, environment and technology. Ms. Skopec has experience throughout every step of discovery and has secured favorable outcomes for clients in state and federal court actions, as well as in arbitrations, mediations and administrative settings.
On top of commercial litigation, Ms. Skopec has built out a practice with a particular emphasis in supply chain and infrastructure-related issues, especially those that developed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. She also has an in-depth understanding of the Hague Evidence Convention in relation to transnational issues. Ms. Skopec frequently publishes think pieces and speaks at conferences on cutting-edge legal issues with international implications. She was named Ones to Watch, New York Transportation Law by The Best Lawyers in America 2025 guide.
Ms. Skopec maintains an active pro bono practice, including representing individuals seeking asylum, Violence Against Women Act protections, LGBTQ civil rights and sustainability matters. Most recently, she assisted with helping refugees from Afghanistan seek asylum. She has also helped challenge the use of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainers to prolong the detention of those without U.S. citizenship in New York and was part of a team that achieved a historic settlement against the Port Authority Police Department related to its alleged discriminatory policing based on sexual orientation in New York transportation facilities. Additionally, she served as a Pro Bono Fellow at the New York Civil Liberties Union in 2018.
Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Ms. Skopec worked as an attorney for an international law firm in its New York City office. During law school, Ms. Skopec was a student attorney for the Tulane Environmental Law Clinic, where she managed administrative and environmental law cases related to the National Environmental Policy Act, Clean Water Act, National Historic Preservation Act and Superfund litigation, and she received a specialization in maritime law. She was also the senior online editor for the Tulane Maritime Law Journal and a research assistant for Professor Oliver A. Houck.
