Michael Galano

Michael Galano is a partner in Holland & Knight's Washington, D.C., office, practicing in the areas of legislative and administrative law, with a focus on strategy development, lobbying, legislative and regulatory counseling, and innovative solutions to corporate, nonprofit and governmental issues at the federal level. He is one of the original members of the firm's Public Policy & Regulation Practice Group, which has been recognized among the top 10 federal lobbying and law firms in Washington, D.C., by Influence, National Journal and Roll Call.

On the policy front, Mr. Galano works for corporations and trade associations to achieve policy changes and corporate competitive advantage during the federal legislative process. On the local government infrastructure front, Mr. Galano has orchestrated numerous local-federal partnerships to complete critical transportation, water, energy, economic development and healthcare projects. On the legal front, Mr. Galano served on the litigation team that represented the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania against the Department of Defense in a suit triggered by the most recent round of Base Realignment and Closure Act (BRAC). On the regulatory front, Mr. Galano regularly counsels clients with audit, compliance and enforcement actions before EPA, HUD and other federal agencies.

Mr. Galano has contributed articles to numerous publications on various topics, including water rights law, local-federal intergovernmental relations and procurement opportunities with the federal government.

Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Galano served as a legislative aide to former United States Congressman Dick Zimmer (R-NJ). In this capacity, Mr. Galano was the Congressman's advisor on issues involving the environment, energy, transportation, crime, defense, budget and matters before the Ways & Means Committee. He has also worked on the campaigns for candidates for the United States House of Representatives and the United States Senate.
