Partners Dan Small and Michael Hantman wrote an article for Daily Business Review in which they breakdown how direct and cross examination is similar to baseball. Mr. Small and Mr. Hantman explain that the procedures for both are very similar and so both lawyers and witnesses need to practice to make sure they can tell their story (i.e. score runs) and not help the opposing counsel with their case (i.e. score runs while you are in the field).
