American Bar Association (ABA) 2023 May Tax Meeting

Tax attorneys Daniel Strickland and Amish Shah will participate in the American Bar Association's (ABA) 2023 May Tax Meeting in Washington, D.C. The attorneys will speak on panels covering different topics such as the unique features of 45Q carbon capture, including sequestration credits, 45V clean hydrogen production credits and 45Z clean fuel production credits. Other topics include recent guidance enacted by the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 and practical considerations for conducting both remote and hybrid proceedings in the U.S. Tax Court

Mr. Shah’s session will take place on the second day of the event. He will join a panel of industry professionals who will provide an overview on the distinguishing features of 45Q carbon capture and other types of credits, like sequestration, 45V clean hydrogen production credits and 45Z clean fuel production credits. The panelists will also discuss how project developers are considering energy properties in order to obtain enhanced tax credit.

Mr. Strickland will moderate a discussion looking over the recent guidance issued by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and the U.S. Department of Treasury. Attendees will also take a closer look at incentives, like the expansive clean energy credits that were enacted in the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022.

Mr. Strickland will also participate in a panel discussing the practical considerations for conducting both remote and hybrid proceedings in the U.S. Tax Court. Attendees can also expect to hear about pre-trial procedure, preparation, virtual courtroom technology, evidentiary questions and remote witness examination.
