Several Holland & Knight attorneys will participate in the NACUA 2024 Annual Conference taking place in Columbus, Ohio. This year's rendition features the largest program to date, with more than 100 sessions and discussion groups with more than 250 speakers covering the latest legal trends and developments affecting higher education. Members of Holland & Knight's Education Team will also attend the conference, and the firm is proud to sponsor the event.

Attorneys Nathan Adams and Paul Lannon will speak on a panel exploring mergers, acquisitions, consolidations and closures of institutions of higher education. During this presentation, the panelists will walk through a methodical approach to deals that will minimize legal, compliance and financial complications.

Attorney Antonia Tzinova will present during a session focused on research compliance, offering an overview of research compliance laws, regulations and rules that affect students and institutions. The speakers will also explain how a changing geopolitical environment can affect research activitiy as well as discuss how to manage research sponsorships or collaborations amid the shifting landscape. They will specifically look at contractual, policy and ethical questions that arise when dealing with entities in countries of elevated risk.

Attorney Joshua Bosin will participate in a discussion on the unique issues facing academic medical centers. Speakers will specifically explore labor and employment-related challenges, from the increase in union activity to the effects of a changing workforce.
