President Obama has signed into law the American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012 (the “2012 Tax Act”). The 2012 Tax Act extends many of the “Bush tax cuts” of 2001 and 2003 and makes important changes to federal income, gift, estate, and generation-skipping transfer (“GST”) taxes.
