Can the Owner of a Sole Proprietorship Be Its Own Administrator?

Corporate attorney Michelle Sperling wrote an article for Lexir about Colombia's Law 222 of 1995, which prohibits the owner of a sole proprietorship from contracting with it or acting on its behalf. Ms. Sperling explains the restriction on the Superintendency of Companies and the Constitutional Court that allows the owner to be the administrator, as long as no personal contracts are made with the company. She also explains that the law's purpose is to protect business assets and third-party interests, but the SAS Law of 2008 offers a more flexible option for sole proprietorships.
